Charles E. "Charlie" Stowe, age 77, of Toledo, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 in his home. He was born October 6, 1929 to Charles and Ada (Lanker) Stowe, Sr. in Bucyrus, Ohio. Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country proudly. He was a Master Driver employed in the trucking industry for more than 50 years retiring in 1995. During his employment Charlie received several Teamster Awards for his safe driving practices. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his step-father, Arnold Wurster and sisters, Fern Burke and Geraldine Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Erma (LaGro) Stowe; children, Michael (Janie) Stowe; Cheryl (Dennis) Presley; Geri (Jeff) Barraco and Jamie (Roger) Cole; grandchildren, Kevin; Anna and Renee; great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Laith; sister, Dixie Winegerter of Welston, MI and brother, Virgil Wurster of Curtis, OH.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor John Richards. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
