Charles Searcy

Charles "Mookie" Searcy, born on July 11, 1962, in Humboldt, Tennessee, passed away on January 9, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. He was a man who truly embraced life and brought joy to those around him. Mookie was known for his vibrant personality; he loved to laugh and make others smile. He had a passion for gambling and was often regarded as lucky, relishing the thrill of games. His love for a nice, ice-cold can of beer was legendary, as friends would jest about his ability to create what they called a "beer tree."

Mookie held various interests that filled his days with joy. He loved to fish, worked diligently as a mechanic, and often engaged in construction projects, showcasing his industrious spirit. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, as creating lasting memories with them was among his proudest accomplishments.

Mookie is survived by his sons, Rushawn Searcy and his wife Crystal and Charles Winters; his step-sons, Altwon Winters and Marcus Taylor; and his sisters Tongia Jennings and Kishia Searcy and aunt Betty Bolds and husband Johnny from Jackson, TN. He is also survived by his brothers: Michael Searcy, along with his wife Danetta; Darrell Searcy, with his wife Danelle; Timothy Searcy; Rodney Searcy, accompanied by his wife Tonya Searcy; and Eric Jennings. Additionally, Mookie is survived by his step-sister Charmalita Williams, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Deloris Searcy, and father, Charles Brown. Mookie also mournfully remembers his brother, Kameron Searcy; his grandmother, Eva Searcy; and his special friend, Wanda Williams.

In his honor, visitation will be held on January 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.

Mookie's legacy of laughter, love for life, and cherished moments with family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
