Charles A. Neuser, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Sunset House. He was born on October 16, 1924 to Harry and Mary (Rober) Neuser in Toledo. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1943. Charles was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years before retiring. He even received a Hero Award for saving a child's life in 1962 while on his mail route. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his action in the Battle of the Bulge. Charles had been a CYO coach for over 40 years and the Dean of football coaches. He was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Church having a variety of positions, along with being the Past President of St. Vincent De Paul Society, Toledo Diocese and St. Agnes Church. Charles was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Retired Postal Employees, WWII Battle of the Bulge 75th Infantry Division and had many other years of dedicated service to others. He was the type of man you couldn't forget, wherever he went someone always recognized him. Charles was very active and supportive in his children's and grandchildren's sports and activities. He loved nothing more than spending time with them. Charles was the nicest person and had an impact on many people's lives, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Naomi (Mansor) Neuser, sisters, Helen Cozy, Rose Soncrant and Margaret Niedermeier, brothers, Donald and Edward Neuser and brothers-in-law, William "Jack" Mansor and Frank Roshak. Charles is survived by his loving children: Dr. Stephen Michael (Lorraine) Neuser, Anne (Jared) McClarren, Lynne (Bill) Ferencak, Sharon Schmidt, Rhea (Mark) Jagodzinski, Julie (Keith) Tremmel, Janice (Greg) Spiess and Ruth Ann (Todd) Bingham; grandchildren: David, Michael, Jenna (Ryan), Jera, Jessica, Hilary, Wil, Brent, Justin, Mallory, Margot, Samuel, Joseph, Joshua, Kaitlin, Jacob, Evan, Ethan and Elliott; great-grandchildren: Zachary and Landon; siblings: Paul (Joan) Neuser, Gertrude Agosti and Catherine Kneisel; sisters-in-law: Margaret "Peggy" Mansor and June Roshak; special friends: Tom Meyers and Larry Jacob; army buddies: Tony Mastro, Tom Condon, Bucky Conn, Irv Stone and many more; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 2 – 8:00 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayer Services will begin Wednesday in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo. Officiating will be Fr. Ed Littelmann. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
