Charlene "Charlie" Willen, age 78, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 1, 1938 in Bertram, Texas to Buck and Ruby (Whitby) Taylor.
Charlene's pride and joy was her family; she was a loving, kind and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid poker player and a lucky poker player at that! Charlie enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her family will remember her as a kind soul who was very welcoming to others in her own home.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 1/2 years, Bill Willen; children, Ken (Kelly) Willen, Roy (Nanette) Willen and Cynthia Pratt; grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Nicole and Logan; Melissa, Christopher and Craig; Ryan, Cody and Brittney; great-grandchildren,13 on the runway and one in the hanger; sisters in law, Lanora Taylor, Sissy Flippin and Faye Gunter; many precious nephews and nieces and a host of friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth D. "Wayne" Taylor.
The family will receive guests on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 2-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Her burial will be private in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
