Carroll J. Dunne, Jr. "C.J.", age 85, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 22, 2011. He was born on July 16, 1926, in Hollywood, California, to Carroll Sr. and Wilma Dunne (nee Sutmore). The family moved to Cleveland Ohio. It was there that Carroll met and married Aloise (nee Fortuna), his wife of 55 years. He had served in the Navy as a Radioman/electronic third class, during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 0587. C.J. graduated from Fenn College with a Degree in Engineering, which led to his employment at Autolite in Toledo and then on to the Chrysler Corporation in Highland Park, Michigan. After 23 years, he retired as a Sr. Production Engineer. Carroll was very proud of his Irish Heritage, passionate about his faith, and devoted to his family. Enjoyed watching movies and extremely interested in History, Science and current world events. What he looked forward to the most were family gatherings and the laughter and good food that came with them. C.J. was creative, imaginative, and very detail-oriented, whether it was telling a story, writing or working on numerous home projects.
He is survived by his wife, Aloise; children, Mary, Paul, Elise, Karen (Scot), and Raymond (Diane); grandchildren, Aaron, Lauren, Dan, Mikhala, Allison, and Megan; great-grandchildren, Shanley and Aidan; and dearest brother, James (Nancy, deceased); he was a dear brother-in-law and a special uncle of many.
A heartfelt thank you to our family and friends for your prayers and support. We also extend deepest gratitude to the many medical professionals and caregivers for their genuine concern and commitment to Carroll over the years.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 -8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio with rosary at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Michael Catholic Church, Byzantine Ukrainian Rite, 133 Walnut St., Rossford, Ohio 43460 on Monday for 10:30 a.m. services. Interment to follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to St. Michael Catholic Church or Charity of Choice.
