Carolyn L. Zink

Carolyn L. Zink, a beloved matriarch passed away on January 4, 2025, at Lutheran Village at Wolfcreek in Toledo, Ohio. Born on April 2, 1937, in Bay City, Michigan, Carolyn led a life filled with love and devotion to her family. She attended Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio, and subsequently devoted her professional life to the Washington Local Schools.

Family was paramount to Carolyn; she was known for being all about her loved ones, cherishing her grandchildren with unparalleled devotion. Her legacy continues through her daughters, Kimberly Ruetz and Vicki (Buddy) Haggard, her daughter-in-law, Karis Zink as well as her grandchildren: Rae (Angie) Ruetz, Jenna Ruetz, Quinton Haggard, Chad (Shannon) Blaesing, and Candi Blaesing. Carolyn also took great joy in being a great grandmother to Evan, Ayden, and Carter Ruffing, as well as Gavin, Violet, and Oliver Blaesing.

Carolyn's interests reflected her playful spirit, as she took pleasure in collecting bells and bears. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Charles Scofield; her husband, James E. Zink; her daughter, Cheryl Wilguess; her son, Robert Zink; and her sisters, Nancy and Charlene. Each of these losses left a profound impact on her heart, yet she remained a beacon of strength and love for those who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on January 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
