Carolyn Jean (Saam) Nadolny, age 71, of Point Place, passed away peacefully on early Friday morning, February 10, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, with her daughter by her side. She was born on May 9, 1945 to Richard Paul and Agnes Catherine (Metz) Saam in Toledo. Carolyn was a 1963 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Carolyn worked at Mercy Hospital in Toledo as a Unit Clerk for sixteen years and later was a Hospitality Hostess for Outpatient Services and Admitting Department for ten years, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed her working days at Mercy Hospital and was thankful for the friends that she made there. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, long walks in the MetroParks, fishing with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson, riding her bicycle for relaxation, spending countless hours in her yard landscaping and genealogy research. In her early 60's she started extensive genealogy research for the Saam-Metz families and also the Nadolny-Barnes families. Her desire to carve out a place for her families history was a responsibility that she took seriously and enjoyed doing.
Her family will remember her for having a heart of gold and would do anything for her children. She was a loving and devoted mother, often putting the needs of her family before her own. Carolyn also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson, they all were her pride and joy. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Angela M. Grup of Toledo, OH; Steven C. (Karen) Nadolny of Clinton Township, MI and Cheryl L. Nadolny (Michael Keatley); grandchildren, Corey R. Thomas, Nicole M. Grup (Phillip Syph), Kaitlyn J. Nadolny, Brooke E. Nadolny, Alexa R. Keatley; great-grandson, Jayden A. Syph; brothers, Alfred J. Saam and Michael L. Saam. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard "Bill" Nadolny on January 26, 1989; brothers, Richard P. Saam, Jr. and Thomas J. Saam, Sr.
