Jean Riley, 91, of Maumee, Ohio and formerly of Sylvania and Toledo, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at her home. She was born to Roy and Marriete (Hine) Cousino on March 11, 1924 in Sylvania, Ohio; she was the third daughter of four girls. She graduated from Burnham High School in Sylvania in 1942. Jean worked in the office at Willy's Overland as a typist but later worked in the factory installing keys in the Jeep's which she enjoyed. Caroline retired from Toledo Stamping after working there for 23 years in 1982.
She married Ersie Riley in Waco, Texas on June 5, 1943. She worked in the service club in Ft. Hood, TX making coffee and cutting pies for the thousands of soldiers.
Jean was a member of First Christian Church for 80 years, she loved her church family. Jean and her husband spent winters in Florida and Texas in their motor home.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary (Susie) Riley and Joseph (Chris) Riley; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and her little dog, Gizmo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband; son, Tom; sisters, Burnedette "Beanie" Routhe, Eloise Johnson and Polly Kozniewski.
Jean was blessed that she had a long life and was the last to go from a beautiful and loving family, she wouldn't trade it for the world.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Kleimola officiating. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
