Carol J. Burton, 77, of Holland, Ohio, bid a peaceful farewell to this world on July 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 20, 1946, to Ottis and Dessie Meadows, Carol brought light and joy to everyone she encountered.
Carol’s journey began in Springfield/Holland, where she graduated high school in 1964. Her charm and elegance even led her to model for Ma Chere. But her true calling was nursing, which she pursued with dedication at the Toledo School of Nursing.
Her career as an LPN at The Toledo Hospital was nothing short of extraordinary. With her caring touch and generous heart, Carol spent over three decades making a difference in countless lives. Her compassion and dedication earned her numerous awards, but it was her smile and kind spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
After retiring in 2007, Carol embraced life with the same passion she brought to her work. A lifelong learner, she and her dear friend Faye Avilla took CCW classes together at 72, relishing the thrill of new adventures. They even enjoyed ride-alongs with the Toledo Police, celebrating their achievements with pride and humor.
High school brought Carol the greatest joy of her life-meeting her soulmate and best friend, Garis Burton. They married on March 11, 1968, embarking on a wonderful journey together. Their days were filled with laughter, gardening, classic car shows, and memorable travels, often cruising the streets in one of their street rods.
Carol’s faith was a guiding light in her life, and she actively participated in volunteer outreach programs at Cornerstone Church, where she spread love and kindness to all.
Known for her quick wit and infectious laughter, Carol was the heart of every gathering. Her legacy as a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and prayer warrior will continue to inspire those she left behind.
Carol was the proud sister of seven and is now reunited with her siblings. She leaves behind her beloved husband Garis, her daughters Nicole and Melissa, and six wonderful grandchildren: Shane, Samantha, Stephanie (Tyler), Jerrahn (Alexia), Jaedon, and Kendall. Her two great-grandchildren, Light and Nora, will carry forward her spirit. She also cherished many special nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, including Faye Avilla, Bonnie Lucio, Barb Frankforther, and Kelly Luck.
Special thanks to her nieces Deborah Wagner and Leslie Chio for their unwavering love and support, especially in the last few years of Carol’s journey.
Carol’s legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.
