Carol Joyce Geer, 77, changed her earthly home address to her forever home address in Heaven on July 20, 2024. She joined her Lord and Savior and all those who preceded her and now she is enjoying a celebration and reunion beyond comprehension.
Carol was born in Kane, Pennsylvania on September 27, 1946 to Edward Clark Geer and Lois Audene Geer. While in grade school, Carol's family moved to Toledo, Ohio where she lived out the remainder of her life. Carol is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Gail Geer of Phoenix, Arizona. She was most proud of her nephew Nathan Geer and niece Amber Geer. Prouder still she was of her four grandnieces and one grandnephew-in-law. Nathan has two daughters: Elliot Geer and Aldyn Geer. Amber has two daughters: Brooke and her husband Bobby Kern and Blayke LeTarte. They all reside in Phoenix, Arizona. Therefore, Carol had many adventures driving West.
Carol attended Dorr Street Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1964. She attended Anderson College (now University) in Anderson, Indiana where she received her Bachelor's Degree for teaching in 1969. She was a remarkable teacher for the grade school that she actually attended as a child. She retired after 30 years of teaching, 29 years in the 3rd grade and her last year in the 5th grade.
Her life did not slow down after retiring from teaching. She was always active in her church and being the gifted-musician she was singing, playing the piano and organ as well, there were many opportunities for her to share her love for Christ and others in music. She led in worship on praise teams and in choirs, and at one time, she particularly enjoyed leading a men's choir at church. She joined a large concert choir that practiced once a month in Detroit, Michigan and put on performances throughout the country several times a year. She was thrilled to travel to the Holy Land twice and perform there.
Carol loved shopping. In fact, she has a sign that says, "Shop, drop, and repeat." She was an avid collector and a great gift giver. Of course, she adored the Oak Ridge Boys and was thrilled to attend any concert possible. Most of all, she loved Jesus. This is a poem that we found in her room by her bed.
I just came by to tell you, Lord, how happy I have been. Since we found each other's friendship and you took away my sin. Don't know much of how to pray, but I think about you every day. So, Jesus, this is Carol just checking in today.
She has checked into her heavenly home and she is so happy. Please join us in the celebration of her life this Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Heritage Church of God; 3520 Strayer Road, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. From there, we will be going to Toledo Memorial Park for burial and then back at the church for a meal and friendship, all are invited.
