Carmela V. Salazar- Cervantes, age 67, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at West Toledo Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was born December 10th, 1943 to Ramiro and Maria (Castro) Vasquez in Monroe, Michigan. Carmela enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carmela was preceded in death by her first husband of more than 20 years and the father of her children, Pedro Salazar, Sr.; sister, Juanita; brother, Demetrio and 3 additional siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 20 years, Gregorio Cervantes; children, Pedro (Laurie) Salazar Jr., Rick (Lynn) Salazar, Rebecca (Kevin) Taylor, Ruth Salazar, Samuel (Melissa) Salazar and Maria (Elvis) Salazar; grandchildren, Christopher, Kristina, Kristy, Krista and Jessica Salazar, Ricky (Felica) Salazar, Desiree and Gabriel Salazar, Matthew (Michelle) Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Charles Ridley, Jr., Tanya and Tarrah Ridley, Alicia, Esteven, Mathew, Sammy and Zachary Salazar and Madicela, Madio and Mia Taylor; great grandchildren, Vincent Salazar, Karina and Kevin Taylor, Charles III, Tannayn, Taylin, Kyla, Kyrn, Demarcus, Emmett and Alyia; 9 siblings and many dear extended family members and friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg.
