Carleen R. Young

Carleen R. Young, age 71, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on January 6, 2023, at Flower Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Carleen was born on February 24, 1951, in Trenton, Michigan, to the late Ralph and Carol (Stanton) Yoakam.

Carleen enjoyed crafts, such as knitting and crocheting; she was very talented at crocheting beautiful baby blankets and making her own clothes. Carleen had a big heart and would do anything for anybody. Her and her husband, Edward, would help with some dinners at Christ Presbyterian Church; they welcomed Carleen and Edward with open arms and treated them like family. She loved tending to her garden and the beautiful flowers. Her big heart, smile, and love will forever be missed. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later…

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Edward Young, whom she married on June 21, 1969; son, Timothy Young; grandchildren, Timothy (Samantha) Young II and Olivia Young; great grandchildren, Lexa, Addilyn, and Amelia; brother, Brian Yoakam; sister, Beverly Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carleen was preceded in death by two infant siblings, William and Patricia Yoakam; brother, Kevin Yoakam; and sister, Deborah Franks.

Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Pastor David McPherson officiating.

Carleen will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Association.
