George "Carl" Wilson, age 82 of Holland, passed away Saturday, September 17th, 2005 doing what he loved, chopping wood at his family home. Being the former owner of a sawmill in Tennessee, Carl enjoyed cutting timber and splitting wood with his grandson, Tommy. He was born September 22, 1922 to Thomas F. and Ella (Copeland) Wilson in Jacksboro, Tennessee. Carl was employed with Kuhlman Building Supply for more than 20 years and then Washington Local Schools for many years until retiring in 1986. Carl was proud to be a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Columbia. He also enjoyed collecting coins, metal detecting and spending time with his buddy, "Baby Kitty".
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his son, Danny Wilson and brothers and sisters, Verley; Luke; Huey; Foister and Selma. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Helen (Foust) Wilson; children, Dianne (Bob) Szykowny; Donna Bloom; Dennis Wilson; Debbie (Bob) Fitzgerald; Dolores (John) Martinez and Darlene (Tom) Miller; daughter-in-law, Gail Wilson; brother, Dana (Ruby)Wilson and sister, Jewel Willoughby; grandchildren, Rob (Roxanne); Cory (Shannon); Mike (Leah); Jenny; Marriann; Alicia; Denny; Dara; Jamie; Courtney and Tommy; great grandchildren, Cody and Alexis; Anthony and Brett.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-11:00 a.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry S. Craig. Interment will follow in Springfield Township Cemetery.
