Carl Russell

Carl Russell, age 97, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Christmas Eve at home surrounded by loving family. He was born on July 16, 1925 to Sol and Nancy (Lively) Russell in Morgan Co., Tennessee. Carl worked as a carpenter throughout his career retiring as a Union Carpenter after many years. He was a longtime member of Douglas Road Wesleyan Church. Carl enjoyed fishing, loved watching wrestling and was an avid woodworker. He had a great sense of humor and looked forward to family gatherings. Carl's smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Russell; daughter, Patricia Irene Haye; son-in-law, Frosty Swick; grandson, Jay Swick; and 11 brothers and sisters; Left to cherish Carl's memory are his loving children, Diana Jean (Terry) Hackney, Carl Steven (Diane) Russell, Donna Sue (Hawk Shrader) Swick and Douglas (Charlene) Russell; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
