Carl J. Stachowski, age 95, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2014. He was born on September 14, 1919 to John and Hattie Stachowski in Toledo. He proudly served under General Patton in the U.S. Army during World War II where he drove a tank in the 610th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He retired from Chrysler-Jeep as a painter after 35 years of service where he also was a Union Steward. Carl was a member of VFW Post 606 and 2898 and Sylvania Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends and was a member of the Commodore Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Helen G. (Hopkins) Stachowski; brothers, Leo and Benny; sisters, Stephanie and Julia. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Rick Stachowski; granddaughter, Bridget Stachowski; sister, Martha; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from Noon - 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
