Carl Herzig

Carl L. Herzig, age 64 of Toledo passed away Sunday, June 6th, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo surrounded by his loving family. On November 27th, 1945 he was born to Orval and Esther (Wilson) Herzig in Toledo, Ohio. Carl worked at Toledo Steel Tube for a number of years in the tool and die department. He also worked various jobs throughout Toledo over the years, later retiring in 2008. Carl enjoyed golfing and bowling and he was a member of a seniors bowling league. After his retirement he enjoyed attending and cheering on his grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals. Carl was an avid Detroit Tiger's, Detroit Lions and Ohio State Buckeye's fan. His family will remember him as a loving and devoted husband , father and grandfather.

Carl is survived by his wife of 45 years Sandy (Steils) Herzig; daughter, Jill (Mark) Mayo; son, Carl (Tricia) Herzig; grandchildren, Justin Mayo, Devon Herzig and Makenna Herzig; siblings, Orval (Chris) Herzig, Mary (Gale) Fisher and Gerald 'Jack' (Sherry) Herzig; sister-in-law, Julie Beumel and canine companions, Maggie and Ginger.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
