Carl F. Windnagle

Carl F. Windnagle, a young 81 of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2015, with wife Judy, the love of his life by his side. Carl was a graduate of the University of Toledo finishing up on the GI Bill. After serving in the U.S. Army in both Korea and Japan, continued his career as a CPA and maintained his certification continuously for more than 50 years serving the Maumee area. As sole proprietor of Maumee Income Tax, Carl along with Sue Macke built the practice up successfully over 25 years to serve multi generations of clients, resolving personal tax issues large and small.

Carl's home away from home was in Northern Michigan, where he acquired a love for the peace, tranquility and time spent with family. This started with family vacations with his two brothers which flourished into traditions of wonderful times with his wife, children and grandchildren creating fond memories for years to come. Carl most loved spending time with family, teaching his four grandchildren how to read, fish, kayak and listening to the sound of loons at the lake.

Carl's other passion was gardening and sharing the bounty with family, friends and neighbors (and too often, reluctantly with the Maumee deer population). Carl developed a life-long friendship with Tom Lamb who supported Carl's love of planting trees throughout Maumee and together, added to the beautification of the city for years to come. Tom is a treasured member of the family.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Judy; sons, Carlton (Emily), Christopher (Jennifer); step-children, Paul (Lisa), Sarah (Mike); brothers, William and Arnold, and four wonderful grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emma, Elizabeth and Miriam. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Catherine.

The family will receive guests Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Cheryl Nutting presiding. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery Maumee.
