Carl E. Denlinger, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio passed away October 2, 2014 at Swan Creek Care Center. He was born November 11, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio to Carl and Mary (Lane) Denlinger. Carl was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Carl was a Mechanical Engineer with Owens Illinois for more than 30 years, retiring December 31, 1991. He was an active member of the Maumee Senior Center. Carl was also a life-long member of the Church of the Bretheren. He enjoyed family camping trips where he was past president of the Coachman Club.
Carl is survived by his son, Ron (Heidi) Denlinger, daughter, Carla J. (Ron) Szczechowski, step-son, Stan (Suzie) Reading; grandchildren, Nathan (Carrie Tyler) Denlinger, Garrett Denlinger, Nicole (Ryan) Warner, Michael Reading and Scott (Julie) Reading; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Emily; and loving friend Phyllis "June" Brunner. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Denlinger.
The family will receive guests, Monday, October 6, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Carl's memory.
