Carl Baldwin

November 12, 1916 — July 31, 2014

Carl Baldwin, age 97, of Toledo, passed away on July 31, 2014 at Sunset Village surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 12, 1916 in Toledo to J.V. and Harriet (Beecher) Baldwin. He was a 1934 Libbey High School graduate. In 1940 he married Betty Staunton in Lima, Ohio and was a devoted husband and father. Carl was a licensed pilot for over 70 years and later a flight instructor who taught many area students. He was active in many aviation organizations. He retired as a tool and die maker at GM Powertrain. He was also a longtime member of Pilgrim Church of Christ.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, brother Walter, his loving wife Betty, and special friend Adele Kaseman. Surviving are his children, son James (Patricia) Baldwin, daughters Sandra Chamberlain and Deborah Baldwin, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 2:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
