Born to Burton and Beatrice Cousino on February 28, 1939, in Bono, Ohio…he was a friend and joy to all with his calm nature, sense of humor and sense of acceptance to those who knew him. He was just easy to spend time with. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather to many of us. He had a mischievous side… beginning as a youngster around 8 years of age when an adult gave him a loaded 22 rifle, believing the rifle was missing a firing pin. After shooting out several windows around Bono and having the time of his life, it was discovered the rifle to be fully operational at which time he was grounded until reaching the age of 21 when he met and married his wife, Marcia in 1960. They were married for 25 years.
He enjoyed many activities with his children including golf, fishing and movie-watching…he was particularly a fan of Westerns. There were few activities he wouldn’t try. Of particular note was the occasion when his 3 sons talked him into a backpacking trip for 3 days, where he nearly had a heart attack and had to hitch a ride back to the car.
Burt left grade school early, while in elementary school, to help around the house and provide help to his parents as they were raising 11 children. Burt was the middle child. And that’s the way he liked things…being in the middle of most everything. After marrying, he quickly found a job as a brakeman at the Norfolk and Western Railroad in Bellevue, where he raised 4 children with his wife Marcia. He was very hard-working, rarely taking time off and then retiring after 25 years with the N & W railroad.
Burton is survived by his sons Mark (Stacy) Cousino of Cincinnati, David Cousino of Bellevue and daughter Kathleen (Irvin) Munson of Bellevue. Also, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His granddaughter, Michelle (Steve) Seaman, was especially helpful and present during his last few months. Bother Larry (Teresa) Cousino of Toledo, Ohio and sister Sharon (Joe) Filipovich of Toledo, Ohio. He is also survived by his previous wife, Marcia, whom he was reunited with and enjoyed being with until the time of his passing.
He is preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Cousino, Father Burton Sr, wife Glenda, son Douglas, bothers Robert, Reynold, Kenny and Jerry, sisters Joyce Peters, Donna Jean Spewick, Marion Day and Judy Eaton.
We will miss your presence, our beloved father, brother, grandfather and most importantly, our friend. Thank you for the wonderful memories, the beauty of your temperament and personality and for the many life lessons…though unspoken were witnessed firsthand. I’m sure you are hearing the words of our Lord “Well done good and faithful servant, enter now into the joy of the Lord.”
