Burnham J Peles

October 21, 1916 — September 8, 2018

Burnham (Bernie) John Peles passed away quietly and peacefully on September 8, 2018, in his home at Genesis Village, where he became family and made many friends with residents and staff. He was 101.

Bernie enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in the China-Burma-India campaign during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Following the war, he worked as a technician for Continental Aviation in Detroit until the company became Teledyne Corp. and he moved to Toledo finishing his career, retiring in 1974.

Bernie was a good-hearted man with great wit and humor and always pleasant to others offering cheerful antidotes about life. He was an avid reader of the Bible and health-related books.

Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings Sidney, Lucia, Adolph, Lester, Adelaide, Victor and his wife Doris Peles. He is survived by his step-son Robert (Nancy) Bigelow; Grandchildren Steven and Emily.
