Bruce G. Thayer, age 80, passed away on May 8, 2017. He was born on April 6, 1937 to the late Helen and Maxwell Thayer in Toledo, Ohio.
Bruce enjoyed sailing and was a member of North Cape Yacht Club. He loved his dogs, Skip and Holly. Bruce was passionate about the Blues and was a member of the Black Swamp Blues Society. He retired from Lucas County where he worked at the courthouse. Bruce was also a veteran of the US Navy.
He leaves behind his children, Jill (Dean) Meek and Bob Thayer; best friend, Sherry Thayer; sister, Janice Denman; grandchildren, April, Megan, Abby, Melissa, Caroline and Deano; great-grandchildren, Madi, Brenton and Jayce; dear family friends, Bill (Ann) Knappins and Ivy Martin. Also surviving are several special cousins and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m.
