Bruce E. Nelson

Bruce E. Nelson, age 63, of Lyons, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at Promedica Ebeid Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17th, 1945 in Toledo. Bruce was a bus driver with TARTA for more than 23 years. During his years with TARTA, Bruce received numerous awards for his outstanding service and safe driving. Bruce was also recognized for saving a family from a house fire while he was on route. Bruce was also a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving his country proudly. He was a member of the American Legion in Delta and cherished spending time with his family and his constant canine companion "Buddy".

Bruce leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Mary M. (Hansen) Nelson; daughters, Wendy (John) Tanner and Amanda (Michael) Osborn and grandson, Marc Tanner.

The family will receive guests Saturday from 1-2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Ebeid Hospice Residence or to the Wounded Warrior's Project.
