Brian Retar

Our Lord called Brian James Retar home on May 12, 2016.

Brian was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He spent his entire life caring for others.

He was born on July 14, 1964 to Laura and John A. Retar in Cleveland, OH. He spent his childhood in the Cleveland area where he graduated from Wickliffe High School in 1982. After high school he attended the University of Toledo and attained his bachelor degree in engineering. After receiving his degree he went to work at FWB Engineering where he worked for the next 30 years. He became a part owner of the company in 2007. Brian was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers.

In addition, Brian was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a devoted fan of all Cleveland sports. His love for sports lead him to become a volunteer coach for the Wernert Wildcats football and McGregor baseball youth teams.

He leaves behind his loving wife Kristin; parents, John A. and Laura Retar, Wickliffe, OH; children: sons, Christopher and Cody; daughter, Addison, Toledo, OH; stepson, Brandon Gobbell Rossford, OH; brothers, Father John C. Retar, Lorain, OH, Jeff Retar (Kim), Liberty, OH; Father and Mother-in-law, Dennis and Susan Wroblewski of Toledo, OH; Brother-in-law, Matthew Wroblewski (Katy) of Portland, OR; many nieces and nephews: Tiffany Cluckey ,Oregon, OH, Matthew, Jack, and Adelle Wroblewski, Portland, OR, Sarah, Steven and Becky Steh of Liberty, OH.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. and a Wake at 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Prayers will be recited Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by A Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Pius X Catholic School.
