Boyd Burton, Jr., age 71, of Walbridge, OH passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 14, 2022. He was born in Toledo, OH on September 5, 1950 to Boyd Burton Sr. and Cora Mae Serrell. Boyd graduated from Woodward High School and then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in social work from the University of Toledo. Boyd was an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. and the Black Student Union. He was employed with the Ford Motor Company in Flat Rock, MI for the last 35 years. Boyd had a passion for music, loved attending concerts and dancing. He was very handy, enjoyed woodworking, and could fix just about anything. Boyd was known for his fashion, his charismatic personality, and doting on those he cared about. Most important to Boyd was his family; he looked forward to family gatherings, social events, and holidays. His smile, spirit, and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Coltrane. Left to cherish Boyd's memory are his loving children born from his marriage to Anise Burton, Shauna Brock, Fallon Fox, and Brooks (Rebecca) Burton; grandchildren, Larisa Burton, Avery Brock, Alec Brock, Taylor Burton, Briana Burton, Gabriel Burton, Brooklyn Burton, Makenzie Mazey, and Samuel Mazey; great-granddaughter; Liv Starner; siblings, Shirley Durham, Edith Coltrane, and Joseph Coltrane; significant other, Diane Taylor; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 1375 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43612 with Funeral Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the church.
