Bonnie Jean Haase, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on November 9, 1939, in Toledo, Bonnie filled her life with love, care, and a persistent commitment to her family and faith.
A proud graduate of Burnham High School in 1958, Bonnie dedicated 18 remarkable years as the secretary at Bedford Alliance Church, where her warm personality shone through every interaction. Bonnie's passion for her faith and nurturing spirit led her to teach in the nursery and children's Bible school, as well as after-school Bible classes at Whiteford Elementary. Her influence touched the lives of countless children, guiding them on their spiritual journeys with kindness and understanding.
As a charter member of Bedford Alliance Church, Bonnie played an integral role in the church's growth and community outreach, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she impacted.
Outside her cherished work, Bonnie had a multitude of interests that brought her joy. She loved to babysit, embracing the opportunity to nurture and create bonds with the younger generations. Her passion for reading was particularly evident in her fondness for Amish Romance novels, whisking her away into worlds filled with love and devotion. When evenings settled in, you could find her indulging in her favorite Hallmark movies.
Traveling was another of Bonnie's great loves, with a particular affection for bus tours and cruises, where she created unforgettable memories with her husband. Family reunions were highlights for her, Bonnie cherished every laughter-filled gathering and every shared story.
Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and faith will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched the hearts of many, and while her presence will be profoundly missed, her spirit will continue to inspire those who strive to carry forth her legacy of compassion and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Ellajane (Bashaw) Stone; sister, Darlene; and sister-in-law, Kitty Stone. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Don Haase; children, Jeff (Rita) Haase and Shari (Scott) Knapp; grandsons, Jared (Lexi) Haase, David Knapp, Jack Haase and Matthew Knapp; brothers, Ronald, Jim, Dan (Marsha) and John Stone; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive guests on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd, Toledo, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Kobacker Senior Unit, Swanton Valley, and Ohio Living Hospice for their care of Bonnie. Those wishing to donate in Bonnie's memory are asked to consider the Bedford Alliance Church Youth Fund or WLMB Television in Toledo.
