Bobby A. Thompson, age 87, of Toledo, Ohio passed away February 6, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born March 3, 1926 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee to Samuel and Ada (Mays) Thompson. Bobby served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, during WWII. He was employed with Jeep for 45 years, retiring in April 1988. A professional photographer, Bobby did mostly weddings and portraits. Bobby was a lifelong member of the N.R.A. and U.A.W. Local 12. He was also an amateur radio operator. Bobby enjoyed traveling with Ella.
He is survived by his significant other of 34 years, Ella Smothers; children, Michael (Ann) Thompson, James (Patricia Rose) Thompson, Bobbie Ann (Joseph) Bettinger and Samuel (Isobella) Thompson; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, step-children, Denise Shepherd, Terry Smothers and Robert (Michelle) Smothers; 4 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Thompson; brothers, Pete and Dorsey Thompson and sister, Irene Thompson.
Per Bobby's request there will be no viewing or services.
