Blossom F. VanSlyke, age 68, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2014 surrounded by loving family at her son's home. She was born on March 9, 1946 to Harold and Frances VanSlyke in Syracuse, New York. Blossom loved nature, especially bird watching. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Blossom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Carter; and niece, Jackie LaVoy. Blossom is survived by her loving children, Kim (Randy) Rittner, Penny Thomas, Mike (Kelly) Wells and Jodi Biggs; grandchildren, Brad, Brandon, Bryan, Kenny, John, Hannah, Jonathan and Kyera; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Hailey, Logan, Kenny and Paige; companion, Dallas Skaggs; siblings, Virginia (Chuck) Gee, Ronald (Georgina) Carter, Richard VanSlyke, Sharon (Charlie) Laux , her twin, Robert (Jana) VanSlyke, Joan (Warren) Meade, John (Sue) VanSlyke, Linda VanSlyke, Carol (Jose) Obregon, William VanSlyke and Sandy Baldwin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
