Beverly Abbott, age 74, lost her battle with cancer on January 13, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, with her loving family at her side. She was born March 25, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio.
Bev loved working outside in her yard and garden. She enjoyed dancing and having "get togethers" with family and friends. Bev and her husband Em's passion for travel led them on many cruises with family and friends. For the past 10 years, Bev spent her winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL with her sisters and their husbands.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Sylvania, OH, FOE 197 and also the American Legion. Bev was employed at Directions Credit Union and First Federal Savings and Loan until retirement in 2001. In 2007, she became a regular attendee at Calvary Assembly of God. Bev's faith in God grew and brought her peace and comfort during her six month battle with cancer.
Cherishing Bev's memory are her loving husband, Emerson "Em" Abbott; daughter Cheryl (Jim) Oedy; sons, John (Barb) Kachenmeister, David (Sharon) Kachenmeister, Jim (Karen) Kachenmeister and Daniel (Joyce) Kachenmeister; sisters, Joyce (Mack) Smay, Nancy (Jerry) Fels and Judy (Rich) Kwiatkowski; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousin, Paul Conrad; and long time friends, Bea and Gene Smedlund.
Bev was the daughter of Sherley and Mick McFarland who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were husbands Bill Kachenmeister and Walter Ferree.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Gilligan of Calvary Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
