Betty J. Minkowski, age 82 of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born on July 9, 1929 to Harold and Lila (Baumia) Jewell in Toledo. Betty attended Scott High School and later married Edward Minkowski on February 14, 1948. After Ed passed away, Betty poured her heart into babysitting and caring for others children. Another passion of Betty's was her affection towards all animals, especially her kittens which already miss her. She opened her home to all kinds of injured animals over the years and cared for them until they were healthy. There was always some kind of animal around her, on occasion her family would laugh and often say that in Betty's previous life she must have been an abused animal. She will be deeply missed by her family and her special kittens.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; son, Edward Jr.; brother, Dean and daughter-in-law, Sanda. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Richard (Janet) Minkowski; sister-in-law, Doris Jewell of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Laura (Brad) Walker, Tracey, Joseph, Kimberly (Frank) Netry, Timothy, Richelle (Conor) O'Mara, Eric Minkowski and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Monday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
