Betty J. Bernard

Betty J. Bernard, age 83, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 14, 1924 to Stanley and Mary (Slike) Kolter in Cygnet, Ohio. Betty often enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (Jeffrey Shurtz) Hinkelman, Janis (Darryl) Nicholson and Carol (Martin) Stroud; grandchildren, Jill, Jay (Amber), Kristy (Cory), Kellie (Brad), Katie, Amanda and Alexa; great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Laurel, Brooke, Brianna, Jaden and Jada; and sister, Jacqueline Demos.

The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4555 North Haven, with visitation one hour prior. Officiating will be Fr. J. Douglas Garand. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
