Betty (Elizabeth) Archer

June 14, 1921 — March 5, 2013

Betty (Elizabeth) Archer, born June 14, 1921, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Swan Creek Skilled Care Facility. Betty was the youngest of four children and was raised by her mother with the help of her older siblings, Ruth, Dick and especially her oldest brother, Robert, who was like a father to her.

Betty was a life-long resident of Toledo and a member of Pilgrim Church for more than 50 years. Betty had a lengthy career at the DeVilbiss Company where she began working in the mail room and culminated her career with the title of "Pricing Analyst."

After her brother, Robert, was killed in a car accident in 1945 and his wife was unable to care for their two children, Betty decided to take them into her home and raise them with the help of her mother, their grandmother, Florence Archer.

Betty will be remembered for her love of animals, especially dogs, for attending estate sales, having political conversations, and for her sharp wit. She also loved watching sports, especially football and golf.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother and siblings. She is survived by her nieces, Judy Konrad, Jan (Tom) Schaffer, Susan (Tom) Young, Julie (Russ) Konrad-Burgett and Jo Ann (Patrick Packard) Lewis; nephew, Robert (Shauna) Archer; two more generations of many nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved and special friends, Ann Bucher, Mary Alexander and Lucy Marquardt.

A special thanks to Julie Konrad-Burgett for the love and time she devoted to Betty. Also, a thank you to the Swan Creek staff and Senior Independence Hospice Care.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Pilgrim Church, 1375 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43612.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pilgrim Church, the Toledo Area Humane Society, or donor's choice.
