Born into life... March 17, 1926, Ms. Bettie Mae Franklin, a longtime residence of Toledo, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 27, 2017, where she was surrounded by her family in her home where she resided for over 50 years.
Her proudest accomplishment was that of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and she was a devoted servant of the Lord. Bettie always put her family's needs before her own; they were her pride and joy. She was a caregiver to not only her family, but also to many neighborhood kids and many other families.
Ms. Franklin was joined was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Roosevelt Franklin. They were blessed with nine children.
Ms. Franklin accepted the Lord at an early age, and after moving to Toledo, Ohio she joined Calvary M.B. Church for many years. She served on the Altar Guild Mission, Pastor's Aide and was a former member of the Senior Choir.
Born into Eternity... Monday, February 27, 2017, after fighting the good fight of faith, God called her to her Heavenly home to receive her reward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmanuel Johnson and Mary (Brown) Bradford; husband, Roosevelt Franklin, Sr.; two sons, Roosevelt, Jr. and Tommy Franklin; three daughters, Ruby Sylvester, Delores Allen and Grace Woodson; two grandsons, Daryl and Darnell Williams and one great-grandson, Terrance Lavelle Franklin-Lane.
She will forever be remembered by her children, Marc Allen, Roby Franklin, Frances Williams, Dorothy Brooks-Thomas and Vera Davis; 24 grandchildren; many precious great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, kind friends and her church family.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Her Home Going Service will begin on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 702 Collingwood Blvd., with visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of her Home Going Service. The Rev. Floyd Smith, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Senior Independence Hospice, especially Cathleen, Kyli, Kerry, Anna and Sarah for all of the love, care and support given to Bettie and her family through this difficult time and also to her home health aide, Lakesha, for always giving her the "Kesha Special," we cannot thank all of you enough.
