Bertha E. "Elsie" Hackler, age 85, of Rossford, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Heartland of Waterville. She was born on January 28, 1927 to Phillip and Lydia (Petree) Douglas in Jellico, Tennessee. Elsie was a seamstress for 25 years and retired from La-Z-Boy Chair Comp. She was a member of the Shelton Park Church of God and loved the Lord. Elsie was an avid gardner, reader and wonderful cook, especially Southern food. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ova Lester Hackler; 6 brothers; and 3 sisters, including her twin sister. Elsie is survived by her loving children, Shirley (Gene) Bratt, Ova Lee (Sheila) Hackler, Carolyn (Rick) McGee and Jerry (Shelly) Hackler; grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Bratt, Michael (Jocelyn) Bratt, Michelle (J.J) Francis, Ashley (Chris) Hofbauer, Stephanie (Brian) McCormick, Bo (Kila) McGee, Phillip (Liz) Hackler, Aaron (Becky) Hackler, Matthew (Chelsea) Hackler and Tyler Hackler; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Marie (James) Todd, Nannie Bricker and June Perkins.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday (today) from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. with Funeral Services beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Isham. Interment will be Private in Lake Township Cemetery.
