Bernice Alyene "Lenie" Kina, age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 12, 2015 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living. Bernice was born January 3, 1928 in Diamond Springs, KY to John and Myrtle (Dorris) Whitescarver. She was a Beautician who owned and operated the Glen-Aire Salon of Beauty for many years before retiring. In her retirement, she tutored for the Washington Local Schools adult education program. She was a longtime member of Trilby United Methodist Church. For many years Bernie and Bill volunteered at the annual CF St. Patrick's Day flower sale. She and Bill enjoyed traveling and especially sailing Lake Erie on their sail boat the "Sunchaser". Bernie was a woman of many talents; she was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. She baked each of her children's favorite pies for holiday meals. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren!

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Bill, granddaughter Jenny Westray, brothers; Chester, Lawrence, Herman and Jewel Whitescarver and sister Clarine Baldwin. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Charlotte Wilcox, Karen (Kent) Ingalsbe of N. Ft. Myers, FL, Pat (Steve) Ingalsbe, Brenda (Ron) Conrad and Carol (Michael) Halsey, step-sons; James (Barb) Kina of Bryantown, MD, Larry (Barb) Kina and Karl (Maggie) Kina of Owings, MD, brothers; Jay (Mary) Whitescarver of Perrysburg, OH and Ken (Joann) Whitescarver of Indian Land, SC, sister Marge Angerer of Ida, MI, sisters-in-law Helen Burgess of South Bend, IN and Jeanette Teal of Perrysburg, OH, grandchildren; Kellie Knaggs, Shawn Ingalsbe, Jodi Smith, Tracy Metzger, Kristi Frazier, Micki Haley, Samantha Scharer, Ron Conrad Jr., Amy Hoff, Daveda Schmidlin, Desirae Kina, Brett and Justin Kina, Jessica Holly, Nick and Carolyn Kina, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one great and one great-great grandchild are expected.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 10:30 am until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Trilby United Methodist Church, 5918 Secor Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial contribution to one of the following; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Metropolitan Detroit Chapter, 2265 Livernois, Suite 410, Troy MI, 48083, Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615, or Ebeid Hospice, 5340 Harroun Road, Sylvania, Ohio 43560 in Bernice's memory.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers and staffs at Aspen Grove Assisted Living, West Park Place and Ebeid Hospice for their loving care and support.
