Bernard E. Hall, age 86, of Toledo, passed away January 7, 2016. He was born March 17, 1929 in Toledo to Alex and Hazel (Smith) Hall. Bernie served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army, and also in the Reserves for 12 additional years. He started with Willys-Jeep Corp when he was 17 and retired 41 years later in September 1987. Bernie was a member of the American Legion Post 553 and VFW. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and most importantly spending time with his family.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth E. Hall; children Becky (Doug) Hall-Brenner and Mark (Pamela) Hall; grandchildren, Matthew (Christie) Brenner, D.J. (Brynn) Brenner, Steffany (Steve) Brenner-Sass, Stephen Hall, Greg Hall, Zachary Hall, Joshua Hall; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cauline Drzewiecki, Jenny Small, Allen Hall, Sharon Galloway and Patty (Phil) Hudik. In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe, Bill, Pat and Jerry Hall.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, January 13, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm where the American Legion Post 553 will lead a service at 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
