Bernard C. Daney, age 85, a lifetime resident of Toledo passed away Thursday, November 10th, 2005 in Lake Park Comfort Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1920 to William H. and Philomena (Weidinger) Daney in Toledo. Bern attended Culver Military Academy and was a 1938 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 28th Tank Battalion. Bern was employed with Teledyne for many years, retiring in 1984. He was very artistic with glasswork and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Bern was an avid golfer holding several memberships at golf clubs throughout Toledo and Michigan. He was proud to have achieved a hole-in-one during his lifetime. Bern also enjoyed baseball and was offered a position on a semi-pro team in Akron as a pitcher. Bern's greatest joy was his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bern was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren and Donald Daney. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary (Ulgener) Daney; children, Susan (Al) Kraft; Diane Daney; Dr. Patrick (Kathleen) Daney and Linda (Randy) Wilson; grandchildren, Amy (Pat) Benore; Jeffrey (Sabrina) Wilson; Michael Wilson; Dylan Daney; Stephanie (Paul Pirrone) Wilson; Erica Daney and Samantha Daney; brother, Robert (Millie) Daney and sister-in-law, Dorothy Daney and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 3-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be LeRoy Houghton. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
