Bartha J. Van Vlerah, age 72, of Toledo, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Toledo Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1935 to Ralph and Thelma (Dunnett) Dawley in Toledo. Bartha enjoyed antiquing and loved her cats and dog. She loved playing the organ, never having lessons, always playing by ear. She enjoyed being a homemaker, staying home and raising her four children. Bartha loved nothing more than spending time with her entire family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Jack Dawley. Bartha is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, David J. Van Vlerah; son: Timothy Van Vlerah; daughters: Tina (David) Brubaker, April Ann (Tracy) Puppos and Judy Pearl Van Vlerah; and grandchildren: Jimmy, Andy, Brian and Justin.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 2 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Thomas George. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or the First Alliance Church.
