Barbara R. Nottingham

Barbara R. Nottingham, 71, of Temperance, Michigan, was wrapped in the arms of our Lord and called home on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 after years of battling with declining health. She was given her wings while she peacefully slept in the comfort of her own home with her loving husband. She was born on August 5th, 1947 to the late Howard Lewis and Hester Gladys Drake Chapman in Newton, West Virginia.
Every breath she took was for her family. She lived for the moments spent with them and cherished every memory made, which is heavily documented in thousands of photographs kept safely in hundreds of albums she adored. She was a kind-hearted, gentle, and loving daughter, wife, mother, step-, grand-, great-, and great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who was known for giving the shirt off her back and the food off her plate to anyone. She loved fiercely and profoundly.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her two step-children; Jerrie Lynn Wallace and Robert Wayne Nottingham, and three brothers; Holly R., Harvey, and Harlan Chapman.
She is survived by her husband, Lanty E. Nottingham; and two daughters, Lisa Cousino (Tommy) and Trish Carter (Bill), all of Temperance, MI; five sisters, Wanda Jefferys of London, OH, Ann Chapman, Wilma Benson (Bill), and Leona McCabe (Jim) of Akron, OH, and Amy Cronin (Danny) of Spencer, WV; a brother, Harold Chapman (Maxine) of Amma, WV; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Whether she is remembered as Barb, Mom, Grandma, Mama, Bama, or Sis, she will be remembered as one of the strongest and bravest women her family will ever know. She is greatly loved, and will forever be deeply missed.
Her Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of her as gone away
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.
