Barbara Leona Golatka, age 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, at Mercy Health Perrysburg Hospital. She was born January 7, 1941, to the late Vernon and Audrey (Miller) Galbraith-Underdown.
Barbara graduated from Rogers High School. She worked at Dana Corp, retiring after 30 years. She married the love of her life, Raymond Golatka in 1959, and together had two beautiful children. A woman of faith, Barbara attended St. Clement Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, puzzles, and spending time at the family cottage, fishing, boating, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed family vacations to the Upper Peninsula since 1964.
Barbara's love and smile will be dearly missed. This is not goodbye, but we will see her again!
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia (Alan) Winzeler and Carole Arman; grandchildren, Steven Aldrich, Nick Aldrich, Jessica Aldrich, Tyson (Shelby) Winzeler, Shana Winzeler, and Tanae (Taylor) Smith: great-grandchildren, McKinley Jean Horne, Aubree, Greyson, Aria, Maddox, and Aspen; and great great grandson, Wilk.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her husband of 63 years, Raymond "Ray" Golatka; great grandson, Brockton Mitchell; and sister, Gladys Rust.
The family would like to thank Aspen Grove for their love, comfort, and support that they provided to Barbara and her family. The joy that the staff and the residents brought Barbara is something that the family will forever be grateful for.
Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road, Toledo, Ohio 43617, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Road, Toledo, Ohio 43613, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Following Mass, entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, where Barbara will be laid to rest next to Raymond.
Memorial contributions may be made to Aspen Grove, 7515 Secor Road, Lambertville, Michigan 48144. The donations provided will be used to buy something, at Aspen Grove, in memory of Barb.
