August Rahe

August J. "Gus" Rahe, age 79, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 20, 1935 to August F. and Margaret (Altmanshofer) Rahe in Toledo, Ohio. Gus proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Local 55 Iron Worker. Gus had a very outgoing personality, often told many jokes and made friends easily.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Parran) Rahe; three children, Sherry, Dawn and Gus; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, brother, John; beloved canine, Cassie.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St.'s Adalbert & Hedwig Church, 3233 Lagrange, Toledo, OH 43608, with visitation starting at 9:15 a.m. in the church on Wednesday. Fr. Jacob Gordon officiating.

The family would like to specially thank Heartland Hospice for their care and support that they provided to Gus and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St.'s Adalbert & Hedwig Church.
