Audrey Steward-King

Audrey Steward-King, age 89, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away, and went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Ebeid Hospice. She was born on August 16, 1933, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to the late Jay and Mary (Garrett) Hamilton.

Raised on a farm, she enjoyed tending to the chickens, ducks, and gathering eggs. She enjoyed the country life and running in the open spaces with her brothers and sister, climbing apple trees, and helping on the farm. Audrey graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1952. As a teenager, she loved to tell people about her Lord and Savior and soul winning. A devout Christian, she was a member of Northwest Baptist Church, Local 14, and Eleanor Kayle Senior Center. Audrey's proudest moment in life is the birth of her daughters'. She was a stay at home mom, caring for her husband and children. Audrey was very talented at playing the piano and the accordion. She enjoyed singing, writing poetry and songs. She was into crafts, such as knitting, embroidery, and cake decorating.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her three loving daughters, Dorothy (Tom) Smith, Janice Dickens, and Barbara Rasey; four grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Priscilla Dickens, Rachel Dickens, and Holden Gallagher; great granddaughter, Patricia Smith; sister, Mary Comers; and three brothers, Edward, J.D., and Charles Hamilton.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her first husband, Robert Steward; second husband, James King; daughter, Rita Steward; brother, William Hamilton; son-in-law, Ronald Rasey and brother-in-law, Richard Comers.

Audrey's family would like thank Ebeid Hospice for the loving care they gave to their mother during her final days.
To our Mom in Heaven: They say there is a reason, they say time will heal; neither time nor reason will change the way we feel. Gone are the days we used to share, but in our hearts you are always there. The gates of memories will never close; we will miss you more than anybody knows…Love and miss you everyday. Until we meet again, your loving daughters.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am. Audrey will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
