Audrey Jean Christy

Audrey "Jean" Christy, age 80, of Toledo passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Avalon by Otterbein surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 3, 1932 in Toledo to Ed and Katy Hunter. Jean was employed as an Administrative Assistant and Office Manager for Gardner Signs for 25 years. She took up tap dancing at the age of 65 and performed at various events. Jean was very active well into her 80th year, enjoying bowling, gambling and dancing.

Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Jim Christy; she is survived by her daughter, Carol (Rick) Wernimont, Catherine (Rick) Bunge and Lois (Keith) Pawlicki; grandchildren, Abby (Jason) Huffman, Ryan (fiancé Monica) and Kayla Wernimont, Katy and Christopher (fiancé Jenn) Bunge, Zachary, Jacob, Hannah and Gabriel Pawlicki; brothers, Larry (Sharon) and Jerry (Kathy) Hunter, sister-in-law, Mary (Ray) Fall; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was also preceded in death by sister, Lois (George) Konyha and brother, Victor "Bud" Hunter.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
