Arthur L. Weiler, 91 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at his home on October 24, 2019. He was born November 10, 1927 here in Toledo to Marvel P. Libbey and Walter P. Weiler. He served proudly in the United States Navy from 1945 – 1948 in California, and as a merchant marine on the Great Lakes, before beginning his career as a union floor layer through Carpenters Locals 1457 and 351, retiring in 1991. He then worked in the community for Meals on Wheels for several years, passionately serving those who couldn't enjoy the independence that he did. He enjoyed history, and his love of it led him to become a member of the Toledo Historical Society for many years. When he wasn't enjoying these special interests, or helping others, he loved to be out fishing, playing cards, and just being together with his many family and friends.
He is survived by his children and stepchildren Dean Weiler, Donna (Weiler) Jackson, David Weiler, and Karen (Weiler) Bell, Robert (Ann) Gardner, Linda (Gardner) Downing, Barbara (Gardner) Taylor, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby M. (Young) Weiler; brothers, Robert and George (Bud) Weiler; sisters, Rose Jackson and Ethel (Weiler) Duck, and son-in-law Richard Taylor.
Friends and family may visit Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W Laskey Road, on Wednesday, November 6th from 2 p.m. to 8.p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 7th at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
