Arthur "Art" R. Tishler

Arthur "Art" R. Tishler, 87, of Maumee, Ohio has gone to be with Our Lord on December 21, 2019. Art was born February 28, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Michael and Henrietta (Kurgin) Tishler. He married Marcia Lada in 1982 and they remained married for 37 years.

Art graduated from McKenzie High School, Detroit, Michigan, in 1950. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corp. Art was a proud veteran (1950 - 1954). During the Korean War, he was promoted to Sergeant. He received the Purple Heart while overseas on January 17, 1953.

He loved to fish and would spend many hours on the water. He also had a passion for finding four leaf clovers; it was a favorite pastime of his with his mother. Art was a well-known salesman and worked for Continental Baking (Wonder Bread), Sunshine Biscuit Co., Consolidated Biscuit Co., Valley Farm Foods, and Monarch Foods. He was a talker and loved to tell jokes. He was a member of the American Legion Post 409 in Weston, Ohio. He was previously the mayor of Weston, Ohio, a volunteer for Weston Fire Department, a coach for youth softball and bowling, and a member of Maumee Valley Chef Association.

A cherished and beloved father and grandfather, Art is survived by his children, Debbie Morlock of Napoleon, Ohio, Doreen Bateson of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Kevin (Kim) Tishler of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian, Sara, Amanda, Aaron, Cassie, Chase, and Cole; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Ty, and Clara.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Henrietta (Kurgin) Tishler; two sisters, Mildred and Ruth; and four brothers, Elmer, Earl, Howard, and Donald. Art was the youngest of the seven children.

Due to COVID-19, the family will have a Celebration of Life for Art at later date.
