Arthur L. Peterson, age 83, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 16th, 2011 at Hickory Ridge Nursing Center, Temperance, Michigan, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born April 7th, 1927 to Harold and Agnes Peterson in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from DeVilbiss High School, Art served with the U.S. Navy. Upon returning, he trained as an electrician and was employed with Local 8 for more than 40 years. Art started with Ayling Electric and retired from Advantage Electric in 1989. He was well respected by all for his talents as an electrician. Art was a Sunday School Superintendant at Bethany Lutheran and ushered for many years at Reformation Lutheran Church. Though he was not a member of Mayfair Plymouth Church, Art was a welcomed visitor and friend to many there. He enjoyed bowling with Bethany Lutheran Church League for more than 50 years and golfing at Whiteford Valley Golf Club. While Art and his wife Rosemary raised their children, he was active as a PeeWee Baseball Coach for over 10 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was known to his gradchildren as "Grandpa Teaser". Most importantly, Art was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, brother and friend. All he wanted in this life was to provide for his family and see them succeed.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his brother, Richard, Aunt Bertha and Uncle John Peterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemary; children, Randall Peterson of Toledo, OH, Sandra Beavers of Temperance, MI, Kevin (Monica) Peterson of Liberty Center, OH and Kenneth (Deborah) Peterson of Petersburg, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Freeman, Stephanie Peterson, Angela (Keith) Briem, Derrick (Trista) Peterson, Crystal (Duncan) Kline, Jamie, Broc and Zane Peterson; 7 great grandchildren and "one-on-the-way"; brother, John (Joyce) Peterson of Las Vegas and special family friend, Phyllis Lehner.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services will beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
