Arthur J. Duncan Sr., a beloved member of the Toledo community, was sent to his eternal home on April 11, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 9, 1948, in Panama City, Florida, he was cherished by all who had the privilege to know him. Arthur was the son of Willie Thomas and Beatrice Duncan, who along with his siblings, shaped the kind-hearted man he would become.
Arthur, affectionately known to many as "June Bug," embraced life with a warmth and generosity that left an enduring impression on everyone he encountered. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, finding the greatest joy in spending time with family and friends and serving the Lord. His life was a blessing to all, and his memory will forever be a treasure to those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Charline Duncan, and their three wonderful children: Arthur James, Jr. (Judith), and Jermain Dushawn. He was also a proud grandfather to his beloved grandchildren: Townes’en Jones, Jehremy Jones, Jer’miah Duncan, Jermaine Duncan, Jr., and Kennedy Duncan. Arthur's family legacy extends to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss him yet hold precious memories in their hearts.
Arthur was one of six sons, including Willie Duncan, George Duncan (Margaret), Donald Duncan (Mary), Kenneth Davis (Cynthia), and his dearly departed brother Robert. He also had three sisters: Reilla Huntley (Leonard), who has passed, and the late Mary Alice Duncan and Rosemary Sanks (Royce). He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lisa Ann Marie Duncan, who carries his love in spirit.
Arthur's life and legacy will continue to inspire all those he touched. He will be remembered with love and respect at the services to honor his memory held on April 21, 2025, at St. Mark's Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
Though Arthur is no longer with us, the warmth of his spirit and the love he gave will undoubtedly resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
