Arselia Maria Archibeque, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on September 26th, 2012. Arselia was surrounded by her husband, the love of her life, Leopoldo Archibeque, her children, and her grandchildren when she went home to be with the Lord. Arselia was born on October 7th, 1922 in Cimarron, New Mexico to Dionicio and Victoria Aragon, relocated to Pueblo, Colorado for close to 20 years, and eventually moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1971. While in Toledo, Arselia served as a cashier and sorter for the Disabled American Veterans for 23 years, however, her first and most cherished position was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman of honorable work ethic, had a magnetic presence to all those she came in contact with, and her wisdom, love, and virtue will live on through all those she has left behind.
Arselia was the epitome of a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her 73 year marriage to Leopoldo was nothing short of beautiful, as she modeled what true commitment means and set an example for all those around her. She is survived by her children Angie (George) Romero, Connie (Trinidad) Garcia, John (Jane-deceased) Archibeque, Viola (Gilbert) Ruiz, Mary Ann (Sam) Gutierrez, Ben (Diane) Archibeque, Frances Garcia, Jerry (Sherry) Archibeque, Archie (Kim) Archibeque, and Geraldine (Jorge) Pozo, whom will forever hold the utmost respect, honor, and gratitude for their beloved mother. Arselia's 111 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 56 great-great grandchildren will remember their grandmother as a woman who exemplifies what it means to be a helpmate for her husband, a matriarch for her family, and a kind, gracious, and loving woman.
Arselia is preceded in death by her parents, her precious children, Pauline Archibeque, Andrew Archibeque, and Eulalia Cesareo, her brothers Gregorio and Sabino Aragon, and her sisters Arculiana Crespin and Florida Abeyta. In her last days, Arselia received quality care from Hospice of Northwest Ohio. A special regard to her nurse Mark Smith, aides Trilby McGee and Pat, social worker Kathy, and all other staff that provided care for Arselia, as well as emotional support for the family. A special thanks to Ashley Osley (As Needed Healthcare) for her compassion and devotion to Arselia and her family. The Archibeque family expresses deep gratitude for the loving care Arselia received in preparation for her journey home. Any donations made in Arselia's name can be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
