Arlo V. Wood

January 2, 1952 — January 21, 2025

Perrysburg

Arlo V. Wood of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on January 21, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arlo was born in Belding, Michigan on January 2, 1952 to Harmon and Elsie “Jean” (Doty) Wood.

Arlo was employed with the State of Ohio for many years and enjoyed running his own business, Wood Quality Home Repairs, for several years as well. Though most of the work stories he told were about his time traveling the country as a carny in his younger years.

Arlo wasn’t much for crowds, instead he enjoyed time at home with his family, especially his grand kids. He was an excellent cook, according to his two grandsons, anything anyone made may have been good but “grumps’ was better”. Though he was a ridiculously picky eater, he rarely had a written recipe for anything, it was always “a dash of this, toss in some of that”. But if your dash was too big or “one bean was burned”, it was ruined for him.

His other hobbies were equally simple, tapping his toes to a tune or slapping your leg to the beat of his favorite rock song if you were sitting to close. He loved to be able to hop in the car and “just go for a ride”, and he also loved his scratch off lotto tickets; don’t show up without some tickets. He was a Brown belt in karate as a young adult and one time even held lessons for extended family in his basement.

Arlo will be sorely missed by his children Karmen (Greg) Muller, Mandy (Eric) Moore, Dylan (Renee) Wood, Sharon Rakowski (Daughter in Love); Grand Kids, Kyle, Dezirae, Weiland, Gavin, and Roman; his siblings, Shelley, Beth, Susie, Karen, and Harmon. In addition to his parents, Arlo was preceded in death by his “Little Towhead”, his youngest son, Matthew Doty Wood and siblings, Holly, Denny, and Sally.

His family will celebrate Arlo’s life privately. In his memory, spend an evening with your family playing Yahtzee or your favorite board game. Be sure to listen to Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, or Fleetwood Mac, on the record player. And cook one of his favorite meals to enjoy together.
