Arlene R. Szewczykowski

Arlene R. Szewczykowski, age 89, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Goerlich Center after a long illness. She was born on February 17, 1932 to Steven and Clara Langa in Toledo. Arlene worked as a secretary for many years with Whitmer Vocational Schools. She was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Arlene enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, crocheting, and baking. She and her husband Virgil liked to vacation and take casino trips. Arlene loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil; and son, Kenneth. Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters, Sarah (Noah) Szewczykowski and Jenna Szewczykowski; brother, Ronald Langa, of Las Vegas, NV; former daughter-in-law, Kerry (Brett) Lammie; sister-in-law, Delores (Donald) Wojciechowski; brother-in-law, Duane Rymer; best friend, Rose Mazur; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Toledo Humane Society.

Arlene's family would like to thank the dedicated and caring nurses and aides at the ProMedica Goerlich Center, ProMedica Hospice and Dr. Masyk for all of their love care and support given to Arlene and our family throughout this time.
